Solid Wood Caskets for Ashes - Plain and Personalised - Can Include Colour Photos
Our wooden caskets and wooden urns are designed for cremated ashes. They are beautifully made from solid oak or mahogany and can be supplied with or without a memorial plaque. These wooden caskets are perfect if you wish to keep the ashes of a loved one, although they are also often used when burying ashes in a cemetery too. They can even include a full colour photo printed directly onto the wood.

The Casket
These wooden ash caskets made from solid oak or mahogany which is normally varnished but can be painted if preferred. We can also make painted tricoya caskets. They are all very attractive and have a real quality feel to them.
The lids are permanently fixed, and the ashes are placed into the casket from the bottom. You just unscrew the bottom, put in the ashes and screw it back on. The ashes are then always secure in the casket.
For woodland burials you may be asked for a wooden casket / wooden urn without metal screws. We can make a special oak casket which is fixed with wooden dowels for this purpose. We can also laser the top instead of using a plaque

UV Printed Wooden Ashes Caskets
We can now UV print wording and full colour images directly onto the wood, creating a beautifully personalised ashes casket without the need for a separate plaque. Names, dates, messages and decorative designs can all be printed, or you can add a favourite photograph of a loved one or pet. The print is cured directly onto the surface, producing a durable, waterproof finish that will not simply scratch off.
Printed wording can be kept simple and traditional or combined with an image to create something much more personal. Full colour photographs can reproduce fine detail and natural colours, making this an attractive alternative to laser engraving where a photograph or more detailed design is required.

Choosing the Photo Style for a Photo Casket
Oval Photo
Your photograph will be cropped into an oval and printed directly onto the casket, with the wood remaining visible around it.
Rectangular or Square Photo
Your photograph will be printed in a rectangular or square shape, depending on its proportions, with clearly defined edges.
Cut-Out Photo
The background will be removed from your photograph, leaving the person or pet cleanly cut out and printed directly onto the wood.
Photo Covering the Whole Top
Your photograph will be enlarged and cropped to cover the full printable area on top of the casket, creating a bold, full-colour design.

BESPOKE
The wooden urn to the right is a solid oak ash casket with shaped corners. The top was lasered with a lovely cross. In this case our customer wanted an extra brass plaque fixed to the side of the casket. As always we do or best to make it just as the customer wants.
If you want something different - in this case a lasered top and an extra plaque on the side - just tell us, and we will send you a quote.
We can also make in different sizes which would be in the same style as the Tall Oak Casket.
The ecomony oak casket is similar to the standard oak casket, however the quality is reflected in the price.

PLAQUES
We can engrave the plaque in brass, coloured aluminium or acrylic laminate. Brass looks very smart and is traditional but does need to be polished occasionally.
The anodised aluminium is available in black, red, gold, blue and green and requires no maintenance. (prices as acrylic) The acrylic is available in black with white text, brass effect and stainless steel effect and again does not need polishing.

FAQs – Wooden Ashes Caskets & Urns
What are your wooden ashes caskets made from?
Most of our wooden ashes caskets are made from solid oak or mahogany. We also make painted caskets from rot-resistant Tricoya. As wood is a natural material, the grain, colour and markings will vary slightly from one casket to another.
Can you personalise a wooden ashes casket?
Yes. There are several ways to personalise your casket. We can print wording directly onto the wood, laser engrave the wood, add a full colour photograph, or fit an engraved plaque. We can also include names, dates, messages, decorative motifs and other simple designs.
Can you print a photograph directly onto the wooden casket?
Yes. Using our UV printer, we can print a full colour photograph directly onto the wood. This is ideal for a favourite photograph of a loved one or pet and can be combined with names, dates and a short inscription.
How much does it cost to add a full colour photograph?
The price for printed wording is shown in the price chart for each casket. A full colour photograph or image costs just £36 more than the printed wording price.
Is the UV printing waterproof and durable?
Yes. UV inks are cured directly onto the surface of the wood, creating a waterproof and durable print that will not simply scratch off. This makes UV printing particularly suitable for detailed wording and full colour photographs.
Can every wooden casket have a full colour photograph printed onto it?
Our UV printer can accommodate caskets measuring up to 150mm in height. If you would like a photograph printed directly onto your casket, please choose one of the suitable caskets within this height.
What engraved plaques can I have on my casket?
Plaques are available in engraved brass, coloured anodised aluminium or acrylic laminate. Brass offers a traditional appearance, while aluminium and acrylic laminate are excellent low-maintenance alternatives.
Can you engrave directly onto the wooden casket instead of adding a plaque?
Yes. We can laser engrave wording, dates and simple designs directly into the wood, giving a subtle and permanent finish without the need for a separate plaque.
How are the ashes put into the casket?
The lid is permanently fixed. The ashes are placed into the casket through the removable base, which is then securely fixed back into position.
Do you make wooden caskets suitable for woodland burials?
Yes. Some woodland and natural burial sites do not allow metal fixings. We can make a solid oak ashes casket using wooden dowels instead of metal screws. Personalisation can also be added directly to the wood so a metal plaque is not required.
Do you make small caskets for pet ashes or part of a person's ashes?
Yes. Our small wooden ashes caskets are particularly suitable for pet ashes or for keeping part of a person's ashes when the ashes are being shared, scattered in different locations or divided between family members.
Do you make double ashes caskets?
Yes. We have a double wooden casket suitable where a larger capacity is required. Like our other caskets, it can be supplied plain or personalised with engraving or a plaque.
Can you make a bespoke wooden ashes casket?
Yes. If you require a different size, unusual personalisation, additional plaques or another variation, please contact us. Our craftsmen can make bespoke wooden ashes caskets and we are happy to provide a quotation.
