What are these full colour memorial plaques made from?

The plaques are made from 3mm aluminium composite, a lightweight, rigid and durable material that will not rot, split or rust. The photograph, background and wording are UV printed directly onto the surface.

Can I include my own photograph and wording?

Yes. Simply send us the photograph and wording you would like included. You can also choose your preferred background colour, lettering colour and font, and our designer will create a balanced memorial plaque design for you.

Do I need to create the artwork myself?

No. These memorial plaques are specifically intended for customers who would like us to create the design. Send us your photograph, wording and any ideas you have for colours or style, and our designer will arrange the elements into a suitable layout.

Are these memorial plaques suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. The UV printed surface is waterproof and weather resistant, and the aluminium composite itself is suitable for outdoor use. The plaques can be used on memorial benches, walls, trees, garden memorials and other remembrance areas.

How long will a UV printed memorial plaque last outdoors?

We would normally expect the plaque to remain attractive for around 3–5 years before noticeable fading begins. The exact lifespan will depend on its location. A plaque exposed to strong sunlight throughout the day is likely to fade sooner than one positioned in partial shade or a more sheltered location.

How do these compare with ToughPrint memorial plaques?

These UV printed aluminium composite plaques are designed to be a very good-value option for full colour memorials, particularly when you would like to include a photograph. They are weatherproof but are not as long lasting as our ToughPrint memorial plaques. If maximum outdoor longevity is your main priority, we recommend considering ToughPrint instead.

Can you make memorial plaques for pets?

Yes. These plaques work particularly well for dog, cat and other pet memorials. You can include a favourite photograph together with the pet's name, dates and a personal message or verse.

What finishes are available?

You can choose a matt or gloss finish. Matt gives a softer appearance with fewer reflections, while gloss can make photographs and colours appear richer and more vibrant. We can also create a matt plaque with gloss lettering, which gives the wording a subtle raised or embossed-looking effect when viewed from different angles.

Can I choose any background colour?

Yes. The background can be designed in a wide choice of colours, from traditional black, grey and stone effects through to softer greens, blues or other colours. You can also choose a lettering colour that complements the background and photograph.

What type of photograph should I send?

For the best result, send us the clearest and highest-quality original photograph you have. A well-lit, reasonably sharp image normally gives our designer more flexibility when positioning and sizing the photograph within the memorial design.

Can I have a wood, stone or slate-effect background?

Yes. Because the entire design is printed in full colour, backgrounds can be created to give the appearance of materials such as wood, slate or stone, as well as plain colours. This gives you considerable freedom to create either a traditional or more contemporary memorial plaque.

What wording can I put on the plaque?

You can include a name, dates, personal message, short verse or remembrance wording. The amount of text that will work comfortably depends on the size of plaque you choose, so keeping longer messages for the larger plaque sizes generally gives the best-looking result.
