We utilise our powerful laser technology to precisely etch designs, text, and even images onto the surface of the slate memorial. This advanced technique allows us to achieve intricate details that would be difficult or impossible to replicate using deep engraving or sandblasting.

LETTERING

The lettering is laser etched into the slate memorial. As it is not deep engraved it cannot be paint filled. Price includes the first 50, there after £3 per 50.

Laser etching does have the advantage of sand blasting in that small text can be used. This is ideal for lots of words such as a poem.

BORDER

The sign in the image has had the outer edge sand-blasted away. This does set the wording off beautifully.

IMAGES

There is no problem using images on lasered etch slate memorials. You can use any of the images from our image library at a cost of £14 per image or border. Alternatively our designer will source an image or border for you @ £26

Welsh Slate or Brazilian Slate

Welsh slate is considered by many to be the best slate in the world. It is harder, denser and stronger than other slate and this makes it more durable with a longer lifespan.

The surface has a more even colouration which in turn lasers considerable better. Having said that, we will always try to pick the best piece of standard slate to use when lasering.

What is an etched slate memorial?

An etched slate memorial is made from natural slate with the design permanently laser etched into the surface. Laser etching produces fine, crisp detail, making it ideal for personalised memorials featuring names, inscriptions, decorative artwork and selected photographs.

Are etched slate memorials suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. Slate is a naturally durable stone that has been used outdoors for centuries. It is weather-resistant, frost-resistant and requires very little maintenance, making it an excellent choice for gardens, memorial grounds, cemeteries and churchyards.

Can I personalise an etched slate memorial?

Absolutely. Every memorial is made to order and can be personalised with names, dates, inscriptions, poems, verses, decorative borders and engraved images. We can also work from many customer-supplied designs and artwork.

What sizes are available?

We offer a wide range of standard sizes, but we also manufacture bespoke etched slate memorials to your exact requirements. If you need a custom size or shape, simply contact us for a quotation.

Can photographs be laser etched onto slate?

Yes. We can often convert suitable photographs into high-quality laser etched images. The finished result depends on the quality and resolution of the original photograph, so a clear, high-resolution image will produce the best results.

Will the laser etching fade over time?

No. The laser-etched design is permanently marked into the surface of the slate and will not peel or flake away. Over many years, natural weathering may slightly soften the appearance, but the memorial is designed to provide a lasting tribute outdoors.

Can the laser-etched lettering be paint filled?

No. Laser etching creates a fine surface mark that is not deep enough to hold paint. If you require deeply engraved, paint-filled lettering, please contact us and we can recommend alternative engraving methods or materials.

How are etched slate memorials fixed in place?

We offer a range of fixing options depending on where the memorial will be installed. These include hidden fixings, visible screw fixings, adhesive fixing and mounting onto hardwood posts for free-standing memorials.

Can you create a memorial using my own wording or artwork?

Yes. We specialise in bespoke memorials and can work from your wording, sketches or artwork. Before production, we normally provide a proof so you can check the layout, spelling and overall design.

How long does it take to make an etched slate memorial?

As every memorial is individually made to order, production times vary depending on the design and level of personalisation. We will confirm the current lead time when your order is placed.
