Iroko, another excellent hardwood, offers unique colouring ranging from yellow to deep orange, occasionally featuring striking tiger-like marks. It’s treated with Devon oil to enhance its natural oily texture.
These signs can be front-fixed, mortised into posts, or customised with extras like decorative post tops or wooden shoulders. For businesses hosting multiple companies, ladder signs are also a practical alternative.
Stone Signs
If you’re after a sign that’s both eye-catching and low-maintenance, stone signs are a fantastic option. Choose from high-quality Granite, rich slate with its natural patterns, or the lighter Purbeck stone for a Cotswold-inspired aesthetic. Our stone signs can be made in a range of thicknesses but for larger stone signs that are either being screwed or inset into a wall we would recommend around 30mm thick.

The painted signs we craft here at The Sign Maker are usually made from Sapele Hardwood or Tricoya. Both timbers are great for painting as they have little to no movement in the timber and bond very well to the paint to provide a high-quality finish.
Like our natural wooden signs, painted signs can be front-fixed, mortised, or ladder-style, with customisable post tops and shoulders for added flair.
