Wooden Farm Signs
We have carpenters on site and can make virtually any wooden sign in our workshops. For farm signs, Douglas Fir or Red Cedar are frequently used. Both are durable and can survive with little maintenance—we know farmers are busy! The Red Cedar actually looks lovely untreated as it gently silvers with age. It is full of its own oil, which is why treatment is unnecessary.
The sustainable hardwood Iroko is another timber ideal for farm and estate signs. It is also oil-rich and needs less maintenance. For wooden post options - click here.
Wooden Estate Signage
Estate Signs are usually made in Oak. It is a magnificent and very durable timber. We normally finish with our long-life satin varnish, but if preferred, we can finish with Osmo or Danish Oil. We can make the signs any way you want them. We can mortice signs into the posts or screw through the front and hide with oak plugs. Shoulders can also be added as an interesting design feature. Another unique idea is to insert a detailed wooden, metal or corian plaque into the timber.

Painted Farm & Estate Signs
Our traditional painted wooden signs have recently become more popular than natural wood. These can be made in all sizes and are available with or without posts. We use Oak, Sapele - a stable and sustainable hardwood, and Tricoya - a rot-proof wood-based board, as the base materials. The paint used is a commercial two-pack paint that is very durable. We have a wide range of stock colours, but we can match most colours - Farrow and Ball, Dulux, or RAL.
Engraved Stone-Like Corian
Corian is a mixture of clear acrylic resin, natural minerals and pigments. The mineral content retains some properties of real stone such as the cold feel, matt finish and substantial weight.
It can also be cut to most simple shapes and used where small text or detailed images are required. It is ideal for farm signs, opening plaques, and information signage. It is also virtually maintenance-free.
Aluminium Composite Sign Boards
3 mm Aluminium Composite is composed of a thermoplastic polyethene core sandwiched between two aluminium alloy sheets, producing high-quality boards ideal for business signs, farm & estate signage. Available in many interesting finishes, Signs made with cut vinyl lettering have a longer lifespan than full-colour printing.
Oak Framed Entrance Signs
These wooden-framed signs are beautiful entrance signs for large houses, farms, or businesses. Using a combination of traditional oak with modern aluminium composite, we have created an elegant sign to grace any entrance.
There are four standard sizes, but as always, we make them to any size and can use other materials for the panels. They are also available blank for other sign makers.
Finger Posts
There are various options with the finger posts. Wooden finger posts can be made from natural oak or iroko with 70mm or 95mm posts. The large posts can be octagonal or square. Oak is normally treated with a commercial long life satin varnish, Iroko wood with Devon oil.
There is also a range of painted wooden finger posts. You can have one finger or up to seven fingers on a post. Aluminium finger posts are also available.
Free Standing Signs
These painted free-standing signs are perfect for weddings and events. They can be used repeatedly, are very well made, and are suitable for outdoor use.
They can be made with painted hardwood and painted lettering to match your theme. The natural wood free-standing signs are made with the hardwood Iroko and can be supplied with or without plaques.
Industrial Estate Signage
With our workshops onsite we can combine materials and skills. With this entrance sign we have a timber outer frame which can be oak or Iroko. The inner part is made from aluminium and is bolted to the timber frame. It has removable aluminium panels which can be slide in and out. These signs are ideal for an industrial estate situated in the countryside.
We can make to any size but we have listed some of our standard sizes. The timber can be varnished Oak or the hardwood Iroko which we oil using Devon Oil.
Aluminium Signage
Our range of aluminium signage is vast and versatile! Made from 3mm aluminium, our signs include flat plate sign boards, large tray signs, nameplates, aluminium plates with fixing channels, and double-sided business signs on posts.
We also offer finger posts and bullnose edging where required. Designed with vinyl, our aluminium signs are low maintenance and of great quality, providing you with the opportunity to personalise a sign that works perfectly for you.
Fibreglass Business Signs
Fibreglass (GRP) have massive advantage over other sign systems. Although comparatively light, they are extremely strong and therefore resistant to vandalism and weathering.
The sign boards are manufactured to any RAL colour plus black and white. The colours are a shade guide only as the actual signs are much richer and brighter as you would expect from pigmented fibreglass

Entrance Signs - Signs With Posts
When looking for a sign with the 'wow' factor, entrance signs are hard to beat. An entrance sign is crucial, not only because it identifies a property but also because it says a lot about your home or business. Your entrance sign must look the part, as people driving past will unknowingly judge you or your business based on its appearance.
We craft our entrance signs typically from wood, although we have also created some striking stone entrance signs. Whether you choose wood or stone, our entrance signs are designed to make a lasting impression and effectively represent your property.
Outdoor Notice Boards
Given that notice boards are possibly a more traditional sign, we enjoy giving these signs The Sign Maker touch. From notice boards to menu cases and poster cases - we craft our notice boards to last in the outdoor elements; all strong, secure and waterproof. Headers are available if required, and we can supply posts for support.
Hanging Farm Signs
We have a good range of Hanging Signs. Some are the typical commercial panels on steel brackets, which have their place, the Hanging Pub signs are popular. We also make beautiful oak-framed hanging signs, which have a real touch of class. These can be teamed with a steel bracket or a beautiful wrought iron bracket created by our prize-winning blacksmith. He can create special hangers for slate signs as well as for solid wooden hanging signs.
For wooden hanging signs Oak and Red Cedar are without doubt the favourites. Iroko should be considered too, it looks like teak and is full of its own oil so needs little maintenance.
Stone, Slate and Granite Signs
Our skilled craftsmen and women create a wide range of signs for farms and estates. Large slate signs are ideal for entrances, while smaller slate signs are perfect for holiday cottages. We also offer granite in several colours, along with limestone, Purbeck stone, rainbow sandstone, and the beautiful Lakeland green slate.
The lettering is sandblasted into the stone in virtually any font, and images can also be incorporated. The lettering is then painted in the colour of your choice. The main advantage of stone is that it requires very little maintenance.
