Many of our metal memorial pieces have a traditional feel about them. Often used for war memorials or businesses honouring someone on their site, we pride ourselves on the high-quality finish that we achieve on these memorial plaques.
Crafted with everything from brass and bronze to aluminium and stainless steel, we have a variety of metal memorials for you to choose from - each with its own unique qualities. There is also a huge amount of variety in terms of the design of your memorial. We have a wide range of fonts and additional images, too, which all enable you to tailor a memorial so that it works for you.
Chemically Etched Brass and Stainless Steel
Chemically etched memorials can be led by detail as the crafting process leaves a clear, sharp, flat surface. This enables you to incorporate logos or detailed imagery into your memorial, increasing the personalised touch we can achieve working alongside each other.
In addition, chemical etching can craft much smaller lettering, so it may be an ideal choice for a larger, more wordy memorial. It is also the most suitable when various colour infills are required.
Laser Engraved Stainless Steel Plaques
Laser engraved stainless steel plaques are tough and maintenance free, which is why they are often used for Memorial Plaques. Because the lettering is not actually engraved into the metal, the lettering can be smaller and the images and logos can also be far more detailed. The lettering is permanent and as tough as the metal beneath, making them ideal memorial plaques.

While computers are used to create the pattern for casting, the actual casting process follows techniques that date back to the Bronze Age. We have standard fonts and colours, but we can fully customise your memorial plaque just the way you want it.
Anoprinted Aluminium Plaques & Memorials
This process locks the photograph and wording inside the hard anodised layer. This makes the plaque very tough and durable, completely waterproof, as well as being resistant to fading. The background colours for the plaque are silver or gold. These plaques can be used either as a complete memorial plaque or inserted into a wooden, Corian or slate memorial

Cast Aluminium Plaques & Memorials
We create cast aluminium memorial plaques, commemorative plaques, and informational signs using a blend of traditional craftsmanship and the latest pattern-making technology. This combination allows us to offer a wide range of lettering, motifs, and layouts. Shaped plaques are also a possibility.
Choose from four standard background colours, although we can also use bespoke colours. Fix your plaque with a tree stake, holes, or rear studs. From the pattern-making process to delivery, each plaque receives individual attention from our highly skilled craftsmen, using casting methods that date back to the Bronze Age.
Zinc Plate with Raised Letters
These hand-painted and hand-finished memorial plaques are made from zinc plate, which is strong and tough and does not rust or tarnish. The background is etched away, leaving the lettering, numbers, border, and images raised.
These plaques are ideal for commemorative and memorial purposes due to their durability, longevity, and maintenance-free nature. They can incorporate detailed, full-colour images, including military badges, family coats of arms, national flags, and even your own artwork.

Engraved Brass Memorial Plaque
Brass has been used to craft memorials for centuries. Brass plaques are often engraved in a script font with unpainted letters; however, at The Sign Maker, it is possible to modernise a brass memorial plaque with painted lettering and alternative fonts.
A wooden backing board can make a smart addition to a brass plaque, completing its overall appearance and providing a base on which to present it. Some even opt to purchase an Oak memorial cross to mount the plaque on to, which we can also provide.
Black Anodised Aluminium Plaque
These engraved memorial plaques are ideal where small, detailed text, images, or even photos are required. They are also maintenance-free. They are made from 1.5mm black anodised aluminium. The letters are engraved through the black layer of laminate to show the silver-white colour underneath. There is also a good range of backing boards, and tree stakes to choose from
Tree Stakes and Plaque Holders
We offer a wide range of tree stakes to suit your needs. Our selection includes simple wrought iron tree stakes, wrought iron stakes with attached metal plates, tree stakes with two spikes, and modern angle iron stakes with security pins for mounting into concrete. Additionally, we can provide wooden tree stakes and posts, as well as wrought iron plaque holders for larger memorial plaques.
Backing Boards and Wooden Crosses
We offer backing boards in various timbers for mounting your memorial or engraved plaque. For optimal presentation, we recommend ordering a backing board 25mm larger than the plaque in both height and width.
Additionally, we provide maintenance-free Corian backing boards in various colours, including black, slate grey, and mahogany. We also craft wooden crosses in multiple sizes.
