At The Sign Maker, we pride ourselves on crafting high-quality signage and memorials for all budgets. Acrylic Laminate is a budget-friendly material for engraved memorial plaques.
Despite being lower in cost, acrylic laminate has numerous strengths and benefits. These memorials are virtually maintenance-free and durable, as well as weatherproof and UV-resistant—ideal for an outdoor memorial plaque.
We have a wide range of colours available, and we believe that the acrylic memorial plaques look great when secured and mounted to a wooden backing board.
Stone-like Corian Memorial Plaques
Our stone-like corian memorial plaques are a great way to pay a personal tribute to a loved one you have lost. Corian is a modern material with a stone-like finish, so if you are looking for a durable, fade-proof, and virtually maintenance-free memorial, then a stone-like corian plaque may be the perfect choice for you.
Our memorial plaques can be crafted in a variety of colours, and the design can be engraved (even with smaller detailing). We can cut Corian into unusual shapes and a range of sizes. Additionally, if required, Corian memorials can be finished with a full-colour inlay made from tough anodised aluminium.
Black Anodised Aluminium Plaque
These engraved memorial plaques are ideal where small, detailed text, images, or even photos are required. They are also maintenance-free. They are made from 1.5mm black anodised aluminium. The letters are engraved through the black layer of laminate to show the silver-white colour underneath. There is also a good range of backing boards, and tree stakes to choose from
Tree Stakes and Plaque Holders
We offer a wide range of tree stakes to suit your needs. Our selection includes simple wrought iron tree stakes, wrought iron stakes with attached metal plates, tree stakes with two spikes, and modern angle iron stakes with security pins for mounting into concrete. Additionally, we can provide wooden tree stakes and posts, as well as wrought iron plaque holders for larger memorial plaques.
Backing Boards and Wooden Crosses
We offer backing boards in various timbers for mounting your memorial or engraved plaque. For optimal presentation, we recommend ordering a backing board 25mm larger than the plaque in both height and width.
Additionally, we provide maintenance-free Corian backing boards in various colours, including black, slate grey, and mahogany. We also craft wooden crosses in multiple sizes.
Stone-Like Corian Crosses
Stone-like Corian is a wonderful material. Unique in many ways despite it's similarities to Stone, many choose Corian for its vibrant colours and stand-out appearance. Others choose Corian based on the fact that though it is more expensive, it is longer lasting than many other materials. Its main advantage over stone is that the text can be much smaller, and detailed images can be included.
Corian also requires little to no maintenance throughout its life, which is a definite perk if you're looking for a straight forward memorial. You can purchase Stone-Like Corian Crosses (both standard and Celtic crosses) in four different colours.
The memorial crosses are used as grave markers or permanent memorials.
Sustainable Engraved Plaques - PaperStone - Waterproof
Although the name suggests otherwise, this product is weatherproof. PaperStone is the obvious choice for eco-friendly signage or memorials. Made of recycled paper and cardboard combined with natural resin, this material is available in various colours. To test that it was waterproof, we left samples in a water trough for three months, and they came out perfect.

Brass has been used to craft memorials for centuries. Brass plaques are often engraved in a script font with unpainted letters; however, at The Sign Maker, it is possible to modernise a brass memorial plaque with painted lettering and alternative fonts.
A wooden backing board can make a smart addition to a brass plaque, completing its overall appearance and providing a base on which to present it. Some even opt to purchase an Oak memorial cross to mount the plaque on to, which we can also provide.
Laser Engraved Stainless Steel
These tough, maintenance-free stainless steel plates can be used in many situations where small text or detailed artwork is required. Even good-quality photos can be used.
Although not engraved into the metal, the lettering is permanent and as tough as the metal beneath.
Chemically Etched Sainess Steel Memorial plaque
Stainless steel is highly resistant to corrosion, rust, and weathering, making it ideal for outdoor use. It can withstand harsh environmental conditions, ensuring the plaque remains legible and intact for many years. Stainless steel does not rust or oxidise, so these plaques are very low-maintenance making them excellent plaques for graves.
Chemical etching allows for precise and detailed designs, including intricate text, logos, and images. This method produces sharp, clean lines that are difficult to achieve with other engraving techniques. Colours can also be used within an image.
